Pastor Search Update

Welcome to Brian Pursley, our new Lead Pastor! Brian Pursley is excited to join the team at Lakeside Community Church. Before joining us in Wisconsin, he worked as a student, teaching, and lead pastor in churches in California, Mississippi, and Ohio. Brian’s desire is to create an engaging, compelling, loving, and fun environment at church. He communicates spiritual things in ways that are easy to understand, timely, and applicable to everyday life. Brian’s an avid sports fan, movie aficionado, and the only man at a Bon Jovi concert who enjoys it more than his wife (no seriously, he’s seen them more than 10 times). Married to Brooklynn, they have two sons.
We are excited to announce that Brian Pursley was affirmed by the congregation on Sunday and has accepted the call to be Lakeside’s next Lead Pastor!
Here’s the bio that was shared on Sunday: Brian Pursley has served in ministry for fifteen years, bringing experience as a student, teaching, and lead pastor. Married to his best friend Brooklynn, they have two adorable/crazy kids. Brian received his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University and his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Cedarville University. He’s on a mission to visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums and he has the musical taste of your average soccer mom.
A start date has not yet been set for Brian to begin but it will likely be sometime in the late summer or early fall. Please join in prayer for their transition to Wisconsin. In any move there are many details to work out and trials to work through. Please pray for provision, protection, joy and wisdom. Pray also for Lakeside staff, elders, ministry leaders and all attendees in this transition. Praise God for leading us through this process and bringing the Pursleys to Lakeside.

Here it is! The Lead Pastor Candidating Weekend!
The bulk of the search process is complete and a candidate has been chosen to be presented to the congregation. We’ll have several opportunities to meet and get to know Brian Pursley and his family. Then he’ll preach the message on Sunday and we’ll have a special meeting after the service to vote on whether to extend the call to him to be Lakeside’s next Lead Pastor.
Here’s the schedule for the weekend activities:
Friday, July 13, 6:30-8:30 pm - DESSERT GATHERING. If you’d like, feel free to bring a dessert to share and let us know what you’re brining, if you can.
Saturday, July 14, 4-7 pm - PICNIC. Please bring a dish to share, lawn chairs and any lawn games you’d like to play. We’ll provide burgers, hot dogs, water, lemonade and tableware.
Saturday, July 14, 7-8 pm - Q&A TIME with the candidate.
Sunday, July 15, 9:30 am - Candidate will TEACH the message during the service. Following the service, we’ll hold a special MEETING to vote on whether to call him as our pastor.
Please contact the office with any questions about the weekend. And as always, please be in prayer as we continue the process of choosing Lakeside’s next Lead Pastor.
The Search Team has narrowed the candidate pool to one finalist and the elders are now in negotiations with him. If he accepts the compensation package, a weekend will be scheduled for him & his family to come and meet the congregation, he’ll teach on a Sunday and then a vote will be held for whether to accept him as our new Lead Pastor.
Again, we ask you to continue praying… for the search & negotiation process, the elders & search team and the man God is preparing to bring to Lakeside as our new Lead Pastor.
First, thank you all for your continued prayers & support! The process is rolling right along… References are being checked on final candidates & in-person interviews with the search team, have also been scheduled.
Upon completion of the interviews, the final candidate will be selected & a weekend visit will be scheduled for the congregation to meet him & his Family. We’ll hear him teach on that Sunday as well.
We’re getting closer! Please keep praying!
First interviews of six candidates have been completed and the “pool” narrowed to three. Each of the three have completed a set of additional questions which have been returned to the Search Team for review.
Second interviews are expected to be completed by the end of the day Saturday, April 22nd.
Please keep praying!
The profiles of applicants who have made it through the Slingshot Group’s process are being sent to Lakeside’s Pastoral Search Team! The team will take some time to review the profiles and make themselves familiar with each of the applicants. We can expect the first interviews to begin soon!
Please continue to be in prayer over the selection process, the team here and for the person God is bringing to Lakeside. May He be glorified in it all!
Here’s the message from Todd Clark of the Slingshot Group regarding the Lead Pastor Search. It was posted in the beginning of February.
Slingshot Group is the company that has been selected to assist with our lead pastor search. Todd Clark from the company visited Lakeside and met with several groups of people on January 13 & 14. He is now working on Lakeside’s profile and the company will begin processing applications for the position and reaching out to people they know may be interested and and a good fit for Lakeside.
Lakeside’s search team is also in place and met with Todd. They will work with the Slingshot Group in the selection of our next lead pastor.
The key thing the congregation can do, is pray. Pray for the church. Pray for wisdom for the Elders and Pastoral Search Team. And pray for the person that God has planned to become our next Lead Pastor.
